ENGAGING WITH GOD’S PURPOSES
by Mickey Seward
However, I have let you live for this purpose: to show you My power and to make My name known in all the earth. – Exodus 9:16 (HCSB)
Growing up, I didn’t know or care anything about God. But when I was in college, I prayed and asked for His forgiveness. Still, I continued following my own path. I had my own dreams and nothing was going to deter me from becoming who I decided I should be.
When tragedy struck a few years later, all my hopes and plans were dashed. Life swirled around me. I had no control. For several months, I didn’t care if I was alive or dead. During the worst moment of my life, it hit me: life can’t be just something to “get through,” and it isn’t some kind of problem to solve on my own. Depending on myself can only take me so far. God is in control; not me or anyone else. Here’s what I realized: life isn’t about my plans. Life is about a God that loves us so much He allowed His own Son to die so we could be together with Him forever.
It’s becoming clear to me that God’s plans are bigger than my dreams. He has a purpose for me and for you. God let me live so I can tell my story and make His name known.
Are you telling your story?
Prayer: Lord, remind me today that my purpose is not making money or solving problems. My purpose is to make You recognizable in a world that has no idea who You are. Mold me so that You are able to reveal Yourself to the world through me.
“Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude—an attitudeof dependency, dependency upon God.” -A.W. Pink
Engage10K Request: Pray for the people of Mobberly to be open to the leadership of God through the sermon today.
