THE BENEFIT OF BELIEF
by Karen Bozeman
And if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. – Matthew 21:22 (HCSB)
Did you ever have a “discussion” with your mother, only to hear her end it with the phrase, “Because I said so”? You probably grumbled and didn’t want to obey just because she “said so.” We serve a “because I said so” God. Hopefully we respond to Him joyfully because we recognize there is great benefit in believing what He said. When you came to a saving knowledge in Jesus Christ, you were led by the Spirit to accept Him and prayed to receive Him into your heart. This is saving faith. After salvation, your belief becomes living faith. You believe God and are led by the Spirit in your daily prayer life. Matthew 21:22 states “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (NASB) This verse reveals God’s process for answering prayer. Believe + prayer = receive. He answers because He said He would. Answers are not always immediate, may not be what you want or could ultimately change your mind about someone or something. When you practice living faith, you learn the benefits of believing in our “because I said so” God. In His waiting room, He gives promised peace, divine heart healing and instructive wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, let me have a fresh faith today that is based on Your Word. Scripture teaches us that faith comes from hearing Your message and that message comes from the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17). May I hear from You in such a way that I can only believe and not doubt.
“Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do.” – Andrew Murray
Engage10K Request: Pray that our eyes and our ears are opened to see and believe what God can do.
